PhD Defense: 'Opto-electrical modeling and optimization of perovskite/u-CIGS based tandem solar cells'

Tandem solar cells are a promising next-generation photovoltaic technology that can overcome the Shockley–Queisser limit of traditional solar cells. Tandem structures combine absorbers with different bandgaps to minimise thermalisation losses and increase the efficiency of solar energy conversion.

This thesis is concerned with the design and development of thin-film single and tandem solar cells with special emphasis on 2-terminal architectures based on CIGS and Perovskites. The work studies the structural, optical, and electrical properties of these devices and novel approaches to improve the efficiency, reliability and operational lifetime.

This thesis is not only advancing thin-film photovoltaic research but also contributing to the development of cost-effective and scalable solar energy technologies.
