CiTIUS and ILG will equip the "Nós" project with Artificial Intelligence, the Xunta’s new strategic commitment to the Galician language

The new initiative will make it possible to introduce Galician into the digital ecosystem through intelligent technologies, thanks to the largest investment made in support of the language, “the most treasured hallmark of our identity,” in the words of the USC rector, Antonio López.

Nós will have a total investment of more than fifteen million euros, in addition to the creation of new jobs in the emerging industry of knowledge and technological development, with a high level of qualification and specialization, high quality and high added value. Specifically, Nós will make it possible to hire and train more than one hundred professionals and researchers. However, its main impact will come from the development of new products and services around speech technologies and Artificial Intelligence in general, with a very significant direct impact on the Galician productive fabric, which will have a driving effect in an area of strategic importance. In addition, any institution or company from Galicia or from outside Galicia will be able to access free of charge products such as speech synthesis systems, speech recognition, automatic text generation, dialogue or conversational agents, machine translation, information extraction and text mining, as well as automatic summarizers and language checkers.

The Nós project is one of the major initiatives with which the regional government aims to attract Next Generation funds. It is a project fully aligned with the objectives set by Brussels for the use of these funds and with different lines of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (which the central government has just sent to Brussels on April 30), as well as with the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (ENIA).
