The ALIA Forum promotes the transfer of AI in Galician to the productive sector
The meeting, promoted by Proxecto Nós through the Instituto da Lingua Galega and CiTIUS at USC, brought together companies, researchers and institutions to present business use cases developed from the linguistic and technological resources of the ALIA ecosystem.
The transfer of technology from research to the productive sector was the focus of the ALIA Forum on Language Technologies and Industry, held this Wednesday in Santiago de Compostela. The meeting brought together companies, research staff and institutional representatives to present real use cases developed from the linguistic and technological resources promoted by Project Nós.
Driven by the University of Santiago de Compostela through the Institute of the Galician Language (ILG) and CiTIUS, the forum served to showcase the latest advances in the ALIA ecosystem and explore new collaboration opportunities between university and industry around artificial intelligence and language technologies.
From research to the market: Galician AI seeks to consolidate its business impact
Galician companies such as Imaxin, OSIX Tech Development and Dimensiona presented innovation projects based on language models, speech technologies and advanced information retrieval systems in Galician, showing the potential of these tools to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen the presence of the Galician language in new technological developments.
The University of Santiago de Compostela thus hosted a new edition of this event, which is consolidating itself as a strategic space for collaboration between research, university and industry to promote the development and adoption of AI-based language technologies.
After the first edition held in December 2025, the forum reaffirms itself as a platform aimed at encouraging knowledge transfer and the incorporation of advances in language technologies into business innovation processes.
As highlighted by the director of the Singular Research Center for Intelligent Technologies at the USC, Senén Barro, “ALIA aims to place Spain’s languages on a par with the most developed and widely used in the digital world and its economy, and we are in charge of ensuring that Galician shines there in particular, with the indispensable collaboration of companies, which are both beneficiaries and benefactors of this project.”
Along the same lines, Elisa Fernández Rei, director of the Institute of the Galician Language, pointed out that “ALIA is much more than a set of linguistic resources; it is proof that public-private collaboration can place Galicia at the forefront of language technologies. Together we are building a digital infrastructure for Galician that is essential to guarantee citizens’ linguistic rights.”
Resources to foster innovation in Galician
One of the central focuses of the day was the presentation of the new resources of the ALIA ecosystem, among them ALIA Kit, an open collection of models, datasets, tools and demos designed to facilitate the development of AI applications and services in the State’s languages.
ALIA’s new resources open up opportunities to develop intelligent services in Galician
These resources, developed within the framework of the National Plan for Language Technologies of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, are openly available so that public administrations, companies, organizations and research teams can incorporate them into their own projects and innovation processes.
Use cases to accelerate transfer to the productive sector
The forum also served to present the first results of the call for public‑private collaboration promoted by the ALIA‑Nós Project, an initiative created to encourage the practical application of the linguistic and technological resources developed over recent years through projects such as Nós, ILENIA and ALIA itself.
Among the projects presented is VERA, the platform developed by Imaxin for the advanced evaluation of machine translation systems. The solution integrates human evaluation methodologies and automatic metrics to analyze the performance of language models, facilitating the continuous improvement of translation systems and contributing to the strengthening of the technological ecosystem around Galician and other languages of the State.
OSIX Tech Development, for its part, presented a platform for the automatic evaluation of written texts and oral presentations in Galician assisted by artificial intelligence. The tool allows analysis of both linguistic correctness and thematic suitability of content, incorporating features such as automatic transcription, multimodal evaluation and management of specialized knowledge domains.
Finally, Dimensiona Technological Consultancy unveiled an intelligent virtual assistant in Galician aimed at facilitating citizens’ access to public information. The solution combines advanced information retrieval technologies and language models with voice recognition and synthesis systems based on the resources of Project Nós, allowing natural interaction via text and speech.

Through this forum, Project Nós reinforces its commitment to building a solid innovation ecosystem around the Galician language, promoting public‑private collaboration and encouraging scientific and technological advances developed in research to reach the market and society.
The initiative is part of ALIA, a project promoted by the Government of Spain and pioneering in the European Union to provide the country with a public infrastructure of artificial intelligence resources, with special attention to the development of language technologies for the State’s official languages and with a firm commitment to open, trustworthy AI oriented toward the common good.
Project Nós
Project Nós is an initiative to place Galician alongside the most developed languages in the field of language technology and artificial intelligence. Its main objective is to generate the necessary resources to facilitate the development of language technology‑based services and products such as voice assistants, machine translators or conversational agents.
In parallel, the project also promotes the digital presence of Galician through the creation of a wide variety of high‑quality, freely usable tools and resources. Some of them —such as a multilingual neural translator, a speech recognizer, a voice synthesis application and a Galician chatbot— are freely accessible via the project’s website.
Project Nós is an initiative of the Xunta de Galicia, which commissioned its execution to the University of Santiago de Compostela through the Institute of the Galician Language and CiTIUS (a center co‑financed by the European Union through the Galicia ERDF Program 2021‑2027). It is currently integrated into the ALIA project, led by the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence.
