Postdoc data scientist at Janssen-Cilag S.A.

Janssen-Cilag S.A. (a subsidiary of the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical company) is looking for a post-doctoral data scientist for a 3 year contract to support Horizon 2020 ExCAPE project that includes partners from pharmaceutical industry, hi-tech, biotech and academia. We aim to address, together with you, the computational challenges of mining the rich data generated for a millions of chemical compounds from chemical structure descriptors to microscopy images and transcriptomics.

You will be optimizing and developing machine learning algorithms compatible with a high-performance computing environment and integrating them into modeling pipelines for predictions of activity and toxicity of chemical compounds.

We will need your broad experience in the development and application of the machine learning algorithms in the context of various problems preferably in biology, pharmacology and chemistry. Flexibility and passion for handling the raw data and transferring it to a model is required. You will be encouraged to present the results to your ExCAPE collaborators in regular project meetings and to publish in peer-reviewed journals and international symposia.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of PhD level machine learning/data mining experience

  • Advanced in C++, Python, SQL; R experience is a plus

  • Languages: English - Full Professional Proficiency, Spanish - is a plus

  • Experience with high dimensional, heterogeneous and big data modelling and also parallel computing is a plus.
