CiTIUS has joined 'Derechos al Futuro', a civic movement driven by more than twenty organizations, institutions, universities, and foundations to place human dignity and democratic values at the heart of digital transformation.

The initiative was created with the aim of mobilizing society towards a digital future that is inclusive, fair, and in the service of citizenship, ensuring that technological innovation advances with equity, ethics, and responsibility.

Civil society leaders support this initiative to place rights at the center of the digital age.

'Derechos al Futuro' begins with a Manifesto open to the endorsement of individuals, companies, and institutions, available at www.derechosalfuturo.es. The entities supporting it have pledged to promote a digitalization that leaves no one behind and respects the principles of the rule of law, human dignity, individual autonomy, and shared ethical values.

According to Luisa Alli, general director of the Hermes Foundation and coordinator of the Digital Rights Observatory, "Digitalization cannot be detached from democratic principles. 'Derechos al Futuro' is a collective call to ensure that the fundamental rights recognized in our Constitution and European legislation are also exercised in the digital world. Only then can we talk about truly human technological progress."

José María Lasalle, professor of Philosophy of Law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas and former Secretary of State for Digital Agenda, adds: "Joining 'Derechos al Futuro' is a decisive step to promote a critical, responsible, and aware digital citizenship. It's not just about technology, but about how it can serve the common good and human well-being."

An open, non-institutional movement

'Derechos al Futuro' arises within the framework of the Digital Rights Observatory (ODD), a pioneering initiative in Spain bringing together academic, social, and technological entities to jointly work on defending rights in the digital era and promoting fair, inclusive, and responsible technological development.

The movement is defined as open, decentralized, and non-partisan, seeking to mobilize citizens and organizations towards a profound cultural change.
