'Investing in Science IS Profitable': CiTIUS reinforces its commitment to transfer at the 4th National Meeting organized by Unirisco and XesGalicia

The center will join on February 11 and 12 the annual meeting that brings together public and private entities to strengthen knowledge transfer and investment in science.

The Singular Center for Research in Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) will take part next week in the 4th meeting of the DeepTech science and technology investment ecosystem, the fourth edition of the annual networking event between stakeholders from the world of research and innovation within the framework of the initiative Investing in Science IS Profitable, promoted by Unirisco, the first venture capital firm linked to projects originating from the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The event will be held between Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 February in Santiago de Compostela and will bring together researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and research centers, with the aim of strengthening the science investment system and knowledge transfer. All detailed information about the meeting can be found on the official website of Investing in Science IS Profitable.

Among the objectives of this edition are two major challenges: the commitment of science to creating the industry of tomorrow and the role of DeepTech innovation as a source of social impact. As part of these sessions, CiTIUS will open its doors to the investment community and will take part in a round table on artificial intelligence.

Program

The sessions will begin on Wednesday, 11 February, with an initial program of activities that will include visits to two of USC’s research centers accredited as centers of excellence by the Regional Government of Galicia with the CIGUS Network seal. CiTIUS and CiMUS will open this first part of the meeting by welcoming the investment community as part of the initial program.

The Wednesday afternoon session on 11 February will be devoted to analyzing the investment and growth processes of science-based companies, addressing issues such as financing, the scalability of technological projects, the role of alternative markets, and strategies for technology transfer and business consolidation, with particular attention to spin-off growth and “exit” experiences. The program will be completed with discussion and networking spaces designed to foster direct contact between research staff, investors, and other players in the innovation ecosystem.

The panel AI at the service of people, which will address the social and applied impact of artificial intelligence, will feature CiTIUS scientific director

On Thursday, 12 February, the main day of the meeting will be held at the Conference and Exhibition Center of the University of Santiago de Compostela, with a program focused on investment instruments in science, DeepTech ecosystems, and the connection between research, innovation and the market. CiTIUS will play a prominent role in this session, with the participation of its scientific director, Senén Barro, in the panel dedicated to artificial intelligence at the service of people, where the impact of these technologies will be addressed from a scientific and applied perspective.

Thursday’s program will be completed with the participation of representatives from public and private entities linked to innovation financing, foundations, universities, technology centers, and companies, who will share their vision of the challenges and opportunities of investing in science. The day will also include the presentation of business projects and experiences, the Invertir en Ciencia Awards ceremony, and a networking lunch, conceived as a meeting space for the different actors in the ecosystem.

Commitment to transfer

The Investing in Science IS Profitable sessions, organized by Unirisco and XesGalicia, address the most current debates in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. This edition will focus on how artificial intelligence and investment in science help improve people’s lives and boost strategic sectors.

With its participation in 2026, CiTIUS (a center co-funded by the European Union through the Galicia Feder 2021–2027 Program) reaffirms once again its commitment to knowledge transfer, bringing its research closer to industry and society.
