From research to social impact: InVerbis launches a new project to transform hospital management

Born from the research of the center, the spin-off InVerbis takes a new step in its journey with the presentation of SALUSBENCH, a pioneering solution that will allow hospitals and care centers to improve their operations without compromising data privacy.

InVerbis, the spin-off from CiTIUS specialized in process mining through a software as a service (SaaS) platform that helps understand and optimize the operational and administrative processes of companies and administrations, has just introduced SALUSBENCH: a tool that offers hospitals and laboratories the ability to compare the efficiency of their procedures, detect bottlenecks, and find opportunities for real-time improvement, all within a secure and confidentiality-respecting environment. The solution employs international health data standards and advanced governance mechanisms to ensure data sovereignty.

The service will initially be deployed as a use case within the DATAlife Multisector Demonstrator, managed by CESGA with the participation of the DATAlife Digital Innovation Hub. This environment allows for pilot tests and projects based on the secure and sovereign exchange of data, aligned with the European data space strategy. In this framework, SALUSBENCH will position Galicia as a reference in advanced healthcare digitization. Among its features, it stands out for the ability to analyze key indicators such as the time between diagnosis and treatment, the duration of clinical activities, or the management of queues in emergency rooms and operating rooms. The model, available by subscription, also includes compensations for entities that provide information and could be extended in the future to other healthcare areas, such as elderly care homes.

The project has been funded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with funds from the European Union – NextGenerationEU, and is supported by UNIRISCO, Lugo Transforma, USC, and Pereimos S.L. Additionally, SALUSBENCH complies with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and the European data protection regulation (GDPR), reinforcing InVerbis's commitment to ethical and sustainable digitization. The company also incorporates equality policies and low environmental impact technologies in all its operations.

«Making the unintelligible intelligible»

The origin of InVerbis lies in the research on process mining developed at CiTIUS, where a group of scientists was seeking tools capable of “making the data speak” to understand how processes are actually executed within organizations. From this commitment to artificial intelligence applied to management emerged a company that already has strategic partners in Spain and Portugal and is working on its expansion to other European markets.

The launch of SALUSBENCH not only confirms the maturity of InVerbis as a technology company but also reinforces once again CiTIUS's capability for knowledge transfer — a center co-financed by the European Union through the Galicia Feder 2021-2027 Program — to the productive sector. After being recognized with the Technology Transfer Award from the Royal Galician Academy of Sciences, the spin-off now faces a significant challenge: contributing to improving the quality of care in hospitals and healthcare centers through digitization.
