'HYBRIDS' celebrates its fourth research meeting to promote interdisciplinary skills in Artificial Intelligence
The new meeting of the European doctoral network led by CiTIUS will take place at the Research Center in Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the University of A Coruña from April 21 to 25.
The HYBRIDS project, a European doctoral network led by CiTIUS that promotes the training of researchers in hybrid artificial intelligence to combat disinformation and hate speech, will hold a new training event from 21 to 25 April at the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the Universidade da Coruña. This edition will focus on the development of transferable and interdisciplinary skills, combining artificial and human intelligence to address current social challenges from an innovative and cross-cutting perspective.
The event will be held from 21 to 25 April at the Research Center for Information and Communication Technologies (CITIC) of the Universidade da Coruña and will focus on acquiring transferable and interdisciplinary skills in the field of research on hybrid technologies applied to combating disinformation and hate speech online.
The event, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (HE MSCA) and co-funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through Horizon Europe, aims to reduce the gap between academia and industry. To this end, it will explore how advanced AI tools, such as natural language processing and deep learning, can be integrated with human intelligence to combat disinformation and incitement to hatred.
Event details
- Day 1: Monday, 21 April
Tools for thesis writing in doctoral research.
- Day 2: Tuesday, 22 April
Integration, interoperability and data protection in HYBRIDS platforms.
- Day 3: Wednesday, 23 April
HYBRIDS doctoral candidates’ profiles and the job market: practical hybrid skills for industry and academia.
- Day 4: Friday, 25 April

About HYBRIDS
HYBRIDS is a project of CiTIUS (a center co-funded by the European Union through the Galicia Feder Program 2021–2027) at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) that seeks to provide researchers with the knowledge and tools they need to confront disinformation and hate speech online through an in-depth analysis of public discourse. Specifically, it integrates the structured knowledge contributed by the social sciences and the humanities into natural language processing tools and deep learning algorithms. Through the creation of new hybrid intelligence systems, HYBRIDS combines artificial and human intelligence to overcome the shortcomings of current artificial intelligence methods. This initiative is implemented under the auspices of the European Union, which co-funds the center’s activities through the Galicia Feder 2021–2027 Program.
