Voices to Inspire: Women Building the Digital Future
On the occasion of the International Girls in ICT Day, CiTIUS launches a new podcast bringing together several women who share their experiences and reflections on their studies, research careers, and connection with technology.
The CiTIUS joins the celebration of the International Girls in ICT Day (#GirlsInICT2025) by launching a special podcast designed to commemorate this day from the research center of the University of Santiago de Compostela, with the aim of highlighting female role models in the scientific and technological fields.
Under the title '8 Voices to Inspire: Women Building the STEM Future', the episode brings together the testimonies of eight women with different profiles and backgrounds who share their personal and professional experiences, addressing issues such as scientific vocation, educational choices, gender barriers in research, or the role of technology in today's society.
The activity is moderated by Marta Núñez García, Ramón y Cajal researcher at CiTIUS, with a notable international career in the field of medical imaging and machine learning. Also participating in the dialogue panel are Constanza Andión and Carolina Pávez, predoctoral researchers at CiTIUS, along with Clara Álvarez and Noa Diz, students of the Bachelor's Degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC).
Among the audience, providing their reflections and questions, are Eirena Souto, Xiana Oliveira, and Elena Couto, students of the Bachelor's Degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Technical School of Engineering of USC. Together they have created a close, live, and unfiltered talk that seeks to inspire young women to follow their vocation, demonstrating that there are role models who speak their language, share their concerns, and have traveled the same path.
This new format seeks to serve as a source of inspiration for girls and young women interested in science and technology, offering real and diverse models that help break stereotypes and promote equal opportunities in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
The project is part of the program of activities driven by the CiTIUS Equality Commission and is framed within the international day annually promoted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which this year carries the theme "Girls in ICT for an inclusive digital transformation". An initiative materialized under the auspices of the European Union, co-financing the center's activities through the Galicia Feder 2021-2027 Program.
