A method for processing perceptual dialectology data
This work presents a contribution on how to develop data processing (both technically & statiscally) in perceptual dialectology (PD) studies. This discipline focuses on the study
of nonlinguists perceptions on dialectal variation. Such tasks require a large amount of information whose treatment can be improved if suitable tools from Geographic
Information Systems (GIS) for the treatment of geographic information, jointly with powerful statistical data analysis methods are combined. In order to carry out this
work, simulated data corresponding to a case study PD research from Galicia have been used to illustrate the procedure.
