Lorenzo Vaquero Otal

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in 2018. Later, in 2019, I completed my Master's Degree in Big Data at the same university. In 2023, I received my PhD from USC, where I earned the highest grade and the Cum Laude distinction.

During my years at CiTIUS, I worked on several national projects (Indra, Gradiant, BIGBISC, RAI4P). In addition, I collaborated as a Teaching Assistant at USC (BSc in Computer Engineering, BSc in Mathematics) and UIMP (MSc in Artificial Intelligence Research), and organized and participated in various outreach activities (ECAI, USC, CiTIUS, Marie Curie Actions, ...). In this period, I also became certified in Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT4ALL Consortium by Erasmus+) and was awarded the Spanish National Award for the Best University STEM Project in Sustainability (Renault Foundation).

After obtaining my PhD, I relocated to Trento (Italy) to work as a Research Associate in the DVL group at Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK). Here, I have been collaborating on different European Projects, and continuing my research on visual object tracking in crowded scenarios and video anomaly recognition. I enjoy spending my free time developing personal projects related to robotics, IoT, and computing in general.
