Doctoral Meeting: 'Automatic dental age calculation from significant parameters extracted automatically from orthopantomographies'

Chronological age estimation is a very important task in a variety of scenarios, such as body identification or legal assessment, and one of the most used body indicators to carry it out is the dentition.

In this thesis, a set of panoramic dental X-ray images are being used to extract useful information with the aim of predicting the chronological age of a patient.

Although several techniques have been applied to automatically segment several bone structures in the images, Deep Learning based approaches seem to produce the most accurate results.
