Doctoral meeting: 'Processing of airborne LiDAR Data: power line detection and search of optimal routes'

LiDAR is nowadays one the most used techniques to collect geospatial information. Since the collected data is very precise, it allows a wide range of applications: road extraction, DEM generation for flood mapping, crop analysis, fire management and so on. Depending on the vehicle where the LiDAR sensor is mounted, airborne LiDAR and terrestrial LiDAR can be distinguish.

In this thesis, solutions for fast and efficient airborne LiDAR data processing are presented. This work is based on a previously developed classificator of airborne LiDAR Data, which allows the classification of the data in one of these four classes: ground, vegetation, buildings and roads. To this day, we focused both on the addition of a fifth class, corresponding to power lines, and in the searching of optimal routes in rural enviroments.
