In-person Practical Workshop: 'Sargantana: the new generation of the first open-source chips designed in Spain. Incorporation of instructions and verification'

The USC-Televés Chair in Microelectronics, led by CiTIUS, continues its training activity with a new practical workshop focusing on the development and verification of a custom instruction in Sargantana, a top-tier open-source RISC-V processor developed at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Spain. The workshop will involve developing a hardware description in RTL, its verification, integration into the Sargantana core, verification of the integration, and measurement of performance improvement.

The workshop is aimed at students, professionals, and microelectronic design enthusiasts.

Methodology

  • Format: 2 in-person afternoons (May 21 and 22, 2026)
  • Content: Practical exercises on real designs
  • Duration: 2 intensive sessions from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
