Training Program: 'Current Framework of Open Science and BUSC Resources for Its Promotion'

This seminar has two main objectives: to highlight the implications of European and Spanish Open Science policies on the research career of USC staff, and to present the resources and services offered by the BUSC to support teaching and research staff in this context. The first part of the talk will focus on the current framework of Open Science in Spanish universities, as well as the policies and requirements in Spain and Europe regarding the publication of publicly funded research results. Subsequently, the talk will explain the resources and services provided by the BUSC to support PDI research activities, including self-archiving in the institutional repository Minerva and initiatives to enhance the visibility and impact of research.

About Mabela Casal

Degree in Hispanic Philology from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She joined the university as a library assistant in 1994 and became a senior librarian in 2003. Serving as the Director of the University Library of Santiago de Compostela since May 2008, she obtained the Diploma of Public Administration Manager from the Xunta de Galicia in the same year. She has received and provided training in various fields, particularly on Open Science and bibliographic heritage. Former Executive Secretary of the Spanish University Library Network (REBIUN) from 2016 to 2020, she has also been a member of the Cooperation Council of Libraries of Galicia and the Spanish Library Cooperation Council.

About Carmen Posse

Degree in Documentation from the University of Salamanca, her professional trajectory in library and documentation management has always been supported by continuous and updated training to adapt to new demands in digital information management. Since 2023, she has been responsible for the administration of Minerva, USC's institutional repository, and the management of transformative agreements for open-access publishing.
