Call for postdoctoral research funded by the Juan de la Cierva and Ramón y Cajal calls for applications

The Research Centre on Intelligent Technologies of the University of Santiago de Compostela (CiTIUS) is looking to recruit postdoctoral researchers in areas related to their Scientific Programs funded by the Juan de la Cierva Call and Ramón y Cajal Call.

In order to be eligible to participate in CiTIUS, applicants for the Juan de la Cierva and Ramón y Cajal calls must be related to one of the following areas:

  • Electronic design of intelligent devices 
  • Machine learning and reasoning 
  • Trustworthy AI 
  • Computer Vision 
  • Robotics 
  • Data and process science and engineering 
  • Language technologies 
  • High performance computing 
  • Virtual and augmented reality

The grants of Juan de la Cierva are intented to complete the postdoctoral research training of the candidates in Spanish R&D centers other than those in which they completed their predoctoral training.

  • Requirements:  Candidates must hold a doctoral degree obtained in 2022 or 2023
  • Duration: 2 years
  • Salary: 28,000€/year
  • Complementary grant: 7,400€ will be granted to cover expenses directly related to the execution of their research activities

The purpose of the grant of Ramón y Cajal is to promote the incorporation into research organisations of research personnel, both Spanish and foreign, with an outstanding track record, so that they may acquire the skills and abilities that will enable them to obtain a stable position in a research organisation of the Spanish Science, Technology and Innovation System.

  • Requirements: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree obtained between 01/01/2013 – 31/12/2021
  • Duration: 3 years + 2 years (in order to access to the 2 extra years R3 accreditation is mandatory)
  • Salary: from 35,000€ to 41,500€
  • Complementary grant: 50,000€ will be granted, to cover expenses directly related to the   execution of their research activities. People recruited through “talent attraction” will receive additional support of 70,000€.

Through the call “Proyectos de excelencia” of the Xunta de Galicia, up to 50,000 euros per year (4 years) can be obtained.

Selected applicants will be supported by CiTIUS researchers to present a competitive proposal to the call. Candidates will be prioritized depending on merits.

Evaluation and selection procedure

  • PhD in an area related to Intelligent Technologies
  • Scientific achievements: publications in the scientific topics of CiTIUS Scientific Programes. Participation in R&D activities
  • Motivation letter, outlining background and experience, the 5 most relevant research results and a brief research proposal aligned with CiTIUS’ Scientific Programes (1/2 page)
  • English level C1 or higher

Our research Centre

CiTIUS is a research centre specialised in Intelligent Technologies located in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Currently, the Centre has a team of more than 120 researchers, including 31 senior researchers, selected by an external Scientific Advisory Board. Over the period 2020-2022, CiTIUS published more than 180 articles in indexed journals (SCI-Scopus), 73% of which were published in journals ranked in the first quartile. Average R&D income is 3,5 M € per year. At this moment, CiTIUS is participating in 10 European Projects including three Marie-Sklodowska Curie European Training Networks coordinated by CiTIUS’ and a FETPROACT project. CiTIUS has also created two spin-offs: Situm and InVerbis.

We are in a high-level scientific environment with four research centres specialized in different areas (CiQUS, CiMUS, IGFAE and CiTIUS).
