PhD candidate in RF MMIC Design for aerospace applications

Job description

We are seeking a candidate with a Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Physics, Electronics or related discipline to join the CiTIUS in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. In this role, you will be responsible of the design of novel integrated circuits, MMICs, for next generation active antenna systems for defense and space applications. The ideal candidate should have some general background on integrated circuit design in Si or III-V technologies and RF applications.

This position is supported by the Cátedra Televés en Microelectrónica of the Program Cátedras CHIP funded by the Secretaría de Estado de Telecomunicaciones e Infraestructuras Digitales  (Ministerio de Asuntos Económicos y Transformación Digital).

Key Responsibilities:

  • MMIC design and development in GaAs, GaN and SiGe technologies
  • Design and development of RF and Microwave modules and circuits
  • Laboratory characterization and test validation
  • Preparation of technical documents and research papers

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Telecommunications (specialisation in telecommunication systems preferred), Physics, Electronics or related discipline.
  • Knowledge/interest in MMIC design (Si or III-V technologies) and in electronic circuit simulation tools such as ADS, AWR, CST, Cadence, etc.
  • Experience with lab equipment (network analysers, spectrum analysers, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to deal with and prioritise a range of ongoing tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to devise, review, and deliver complex procedures, and work independently towards pre-defined goals, maintaining accuracy and precision in all areas of work.
  • Proficient English.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in designing RF and microwave circuits would be desirable.

Duration: 3-year position.

Salary: ~€ 19k/yr. Additional complements of up to 40% are possible depending on applicant experience and track record.
