2017 International Postdoctoral Program - Call for applications

*The Campus Vida Research Centers Network of the University of Santiago de Compostela is seeking 6 postdoctoral researchers in the areas of Chemistry (CiQUS), Medicine (CiMUS) and Information Technology (CiTIUS) for a period of two years.*

The International Postdoctoral Program, partially funded by the Consellería de Cultura, Educación e Ordenación Universitaria (Centros Singulares de Investigación de Galicia e Agrupacións Estratéxicas Consolidadas, 2016-2019) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) offer up to 6 postdoctoral positions, aimed to hire new researchers for any of the three centers of Campus Vida’s Singular Research Centers Network (SRCN). RESUME AND BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • The contract is for a period of 2 years and a gross salary of 30.000 €/year. It includes medical care coverage and work accident insurance through the Spanish Health Care System, providing access to the Spanish public health care system for candidates and their family, as well as pension and unemployment benefits. Travel allowance of 1.100€/year.
  • The candidate will join the selected research group (see Research Area Openings on the call), under the supervision and mentoring of the corresponding group leader(s), to develop an individual project in a stimulating scientific environment, having access to state-of-the-art research facilities and a number of training and career development opportunities.
  • The call seeks outstanding and highly motivated candidates, with initiative, creativity and team-working ability, including working in interdisciplinary research groups.
  • Candidates must hold a PhD in an area related to the relevant research opening. Applicants must not have carried out their main activity in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the contract’s starting date. Candidates who have performed the PhD thesis at the University of Santiago de Compostela are not eligible. Preference will be given to candidates who have at least one year of postdoctoral research experience and awarded their PhD after January 1st 2012. Fluency in English is essential.
  • Training program in transversal skills: intellectual and property rights, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, communication, management, etc.
  • The estimated starting date is May-June 2017.

APPLICATION AND DEADLINE

The application must contain information about the candidate’s research background and work experience, including:

  • A detailed CV (the use of this CV template is highly recommended) including personal contact information, education, list of publications and any other relevant information (projects, awards...)
  • A motivation letter (max. 2 pages) outlining:
    • Research background
    • Work experience
    • A brief research proposal. In order to prepare the research proposal, candidates must select one of the eligible research topics and contact the prospective group leaders/researchers for guidance (only one application per candidate will be accepted. Incomplete or improperly filled out applications will be discarded)
    • Two reference letters, or the names and contact addresses of at least two referees.
