Addressing the complexity of geospatial data management
CiTIUS principal investigator Dora Blanco is co-organising an international workshop to advance Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Together with several European and American colleagues, CiTIUS scientist Dora Blanco is currently co-organising the 1st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Workshop on Search and Mining of Large Collections of Geospatial Data (GeoSearch2021). This workshop, which will be held in parallel with the 29th ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems (ACM SIGSPATIAL 2021), will take place as a virtual event organised from Beijing, China, from 2 to 5 November 2021.
A great challenge
A major difficulty for the advancement of geospatial data processing techniques (including multi- and hyperspectral images) is searching for information within the vast amounts of data obtained from sensors on satellites or UAVs (drones), among others. This workshop brings together researchers interested in building search engines with specialists in geospatial data modelling and in the processing and management of this kind of data, seeking to provide a forum for scientists and professionals interested in geospatial data management.
The submission period for this workshop is currently open, and all information is available at https://geosearch-workshop.github.io/cfp/. The deadline for submitting proposals is 28 August 2021.
