CiTIUS and IDIS are organising the conference series 'Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: from implications to applications', an event to address the use of AI in the healthcare field
The *Singular Research Centre in Intelligent Technologies of the USC* (CiTIUS), together with the *Health Research Institute of Santiago* (IDIS), is organising an event to discuss the implications of Artificial Intelligence in the field of medicine, which will be attended by representatives from the private sector, the university, medical research and various institutional stakeholders.
CiTIUS and IDIS are jointly promoting the event “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: from Implications to Applications”, which will take place on the upcoming Wednesdays 10 and 17 November. The conference series is structured into different interactive thematic panels, with a multidisciplinary approach and in a hybrid format, bringing together both in-person and remote attendees. The sessions will offer an overview ranging from the fundamentals of AI to some commonly used applications.
At present, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already, in the words of many experts, “the technology with the greatest transformative potential developed to date”. Its role is essential in multiple areas of our daily lives, permeating all sectors of activity. Among them, the field of medicine is one of the areas in which AI is being introduced the most, and also one of those generating the highest expectations.
Although the human factor will remain indispensable, the future of medicine involves the constant incorporation of technological advances and, among them, very particularly those of Artificial Intelligence itself. Machine learning already makes it possible in many cases to perform diagnoses with great precision, as well as to detect pathologies with very small margins of error. The tandem formed by intelligent technologies and specialists in the different medical disciplines will be a guarantee of progress for the future of medicine.
The event is presented as an opportunity to learn about and share the state of the art in Artificial Intelligence in the field of medicine, enabling a better assessment of the reality, opportunities and risks associated with the use of AI.
