CiTIUS will participate in the global meeting AI Song Contest 2023

The event, known as the 'world Eurovision' of Artificial Intelligence, will hold its 2023 edition in the city of A Coruña on 4 November.

The AI Song Contest, known as 'the world Eurovision of artificial intelligence' (AI), will be held this year in the city of A Coruña on Saturday 4 November 2023. The presentation of this event had place today at 'Afundación' (A Coruña), with the slogan "Walking With AI" (O Camiño da IA), and it celebrates the diversity of ways of working with artificial intelligence in music on an international level, with the artists at the centre of the composition process.

This is the fourth edition of this event, which will begin with an opening ceremony on Friday evening, 3 November, at the CSA of the Cidade das TIC. The same venue will host the 'AI & Creation Day' conference on the morning and afternoon of Saturday 4, in which CiTIUS will participate, and which will feature a programme of talks and academic roundtables on music generated with artificial intelligence and intellectual property rights.

Experts in the field will also shed light on the creative strategies employed by the finalist teams, providing insight into the innovative processes behind their AI-generated compositions. In addition, the in-person and online audience will have the opportunity to discover how artificial intelligence is being worked on in Galicia and, especially, how AI is being harnessed to preserve and contribute to the Galician language. After the informative day, attendees will enjoy the exciting Grand Final at Studio Follow, located in A Grela, with a live TV show to celebrate the music co-created between individuals and machines, and where Galician culture will be very present. It will end with an after party in the same studio. The first set of tickets will go on sale from Friday 7 July at 12:00 noon through the Ticket Hoy platform.

With this contest, Galicia will become the world epicentre of music written with artificial intelligence, a meeting in which the organisation has recognised the title of host of the PAMP! team, runner-up of the festival last year with the song "AI-Lalelo", and winner of the artistic residency of the contest at Sony CSL Paris. In this way, its leaders will have the opportunity to represent Galicia once again, having qualified directly for the final.

Nominations are now open

From today until 4 September, artists, artificial intelligence enthusiasts and other profiles linked to cultural innovation from all over the world are invited to submit their AI co-created compositions. In this way, the organisers hope to receive musical compositions from all genres, developed by teams of musicians, technicians and engineers with the help of artificial intelligence.

The audience and a jury of AI and music industry professionals will judge not only the quality of the songs, but also the quality and innovation of the interaction between artists and algorithms. This year's competition also emphasises creator responsibility and transparency in the use of artificial intelligence, and will reward groups that can demonstrate strong ethical principles with respect to artist training and engagement data.

All details and updates about the event can be found on the official AI Song Contest website and on social media (@aisongcontest).
