Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computer Architecture

We are looking for postdoctoral researchers interested in a two year position funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA - IF), to work at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain, in the Research Center in Information Technologies (CiTIUS). The call will close on the 11th September 2014. Together, we will write a proposal for an MSCA Individual Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers.

We are accepting projects in three areas: computer arithmetic for cryptography and/or FPGAs, performance analysis and modelling of parallel computers, optimization of parallel scientific applications using big data technologies. Candidates interested in related areas are welcome. The projects will be tailored to your prior research experience and training requirements whilst you are hosted by us.

Description

CiTIUS is part of the Campus Vida of the USC, which has been acknowledged as one from the eight International Campuses of Excellence by the Spanish Ministries of Education, Science and Innovation and it aspires to become 1 of the top 100 best biocampuses worldwide. CiTIUS, created as one of the fundamental pieces of the research strategy of Campus Vida, undertakes almost all the research activities of USC in the area of Information Technologies.

We are particuarly interested in the following research areas:

  1. In the computer arithmetic area the project will focus on the development of operators for cryptography in order to obtain fast and energy efficient implemenations, or on the development of floating-point arithmetic for FPGA.

  2. The project on performance analysis and modelling of parallel computers will focus on the improvememt of the tools and techniques availables including new modelling parameters, as for example energy efficiency, and its adaptation to manycore architectures.

  3. The optimization of parallel scientific applications using big data technologies will focus on regular applications based on matrix operations. These applications will be taylored using big data tecnologies.

Researchers interested in related areas are welcome too.

MSCA fellowships support mobility, career development, and training within and beyond Europe, and usually cover 2 years salary, a mobility allowance, and research costs. Fellows can also spend part of the fellowship elsewhere in Europe. The MSCA mobility rule is mandatory: researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior the reference date (ref. date: 11.09.14).

APPLICANTS should send a preliminary enquiry via e-mail (citius.idi@usc.es) and include a full CV with list of publications, a letter of introduction stating why the are eligible and suitable for the positions and name and contact details of at least two referees, before July, 31th. Candidates when applying should clearly specify which area are they interested in.

Applications must be submitted by e-mail to citius.idi@usc.es with the subject: MSCA-IF: [Research area]. Closing date for applications: 31.07.14 at 23h59 CEST.
