Alejandro Ramos's thesis awarded at the European level with the 'Best PhD Award'

The European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT) awards the CiTIUS researcher the prize that annually recognizes the most outstanding doctoral work in Europe.

With the aim of "recognizing research excellence in a Europe understood in its broadest sense," the General Assembly of EUSFLAT (European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology) approved in July 2011 the creation of the Best PhD Thesis Award. Since then, only 5 new doctors have received this recognition, awarded every two years during the Society's biennial congress.

Postdoctoral researcher at CiTIUS Alejandro Ramos Soto added his name to the official list of awardees by receiving the Best PhD Thesis Award 2016 last week during the awards ceremony at the 10th EUSFLAT Congress 2017, held in Warsaw on September 13th during the gala dinner of the congress, which took place in the Polish capital.

In her speech during the event, EUSFLAT president Gabriella Pasi wanted to thank Alejandro Ramos for his valuable contributions, whose most unique contribution was the application of various fuzzy logic techniques to the field of Natural Language Generation (NLG). An innovative approach translated into a new paradigm of Artificial Intelligence, for which he collaborated with the most renowned experts internationally, such as researchers Ehud Reiter, Albert Gatt, or Kees van Deemter.
