Carolina Pavez Higueras

I obtained my BSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2023 from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), where I also completed my MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2024. During my Master’s studies, I focused on fairness in healthcare decision-making algorithms, exploring how bias can affect predictive performance across different patient groups.

Currently, I am a PhD student working on the evaluation and mitigation of algorithmic bias in clinical prediction models, as well as on the development of explainability techniques adapted to clinical practice. My research aims to promote fairness, transparency, and trust in medical AI systems.
