ESTALMAT-Galicia 2020: Stimulating Mathematical and Scientific Talent in Students aged 12 to 16 in Galicia
The basic operation of the ESTALMAT-Galicia Project consists of selecting, each year, 25 students aged 12 or 13 throughout Galicia, through an examination in the Faculty of Mathematics, whose objective is to detect advanced mathematical and scientific skills, and to train them in activities adapted to the development of their talent in the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
Objectives
The fundamental objective is to detect, stimulate and promote vocations and talent in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) disciplines, mainly in Mathematics, and to ensure that the mathematical and scientific talents detected are not lost to society, that their special ability is suitably oriented for the benefit of scientific progress, whatever the professional field in which they develop, and that they are lost through lack of attention in the normal spheres of study and the family.
