
Senior AI R+D+i Engineer
CiTIUS is seeking highly motivated, internationally oriented senior AI engineers with demonstrated experience in AI engineering, AI deployment for One Health solutions, or trustworthy and responsible AI systems.
Successful candidates will join 1HealthAI, one of the European AI Factories funded by EuroHPC, focused on accelerating the application of AI to the One Health domain. The project brings together expertise across human, animal, and environmental health to develop cutting-edge AI infrastructure and solutions with real-world societal impact.

We are looking for talented senior AI engineers eager to contribute to international, interdisciplinary, and high-impact areas such as health data integration, privacy-preserving AI, scalable computing infrastructures, and trustworthy AI systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and supervising the full-cycle of AI solutions on High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures for OneHealth
- Implementing federated learning and privacy-enhancing technologies
- Developing trustworthy, transparent, and interoperable AI models
- Addressing Big Data challenges through scalable and efficient analytics
- Collaborating with European partners across academia, healthcare, and industry.

Desired Qualification and Skills
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline. A PhD in Computer Science will be positively evaluated.
- Expertise in one or more of the following AI-related areas: machine learning, Health Data Engineering, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning Models, Federated Learning, Trustworthy / Explainable AI, Big Data Analytics, Distributed or High-Performance Computing.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to contribute original scientific ideas.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working in multidisciplinary and international research teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English.

- A 2.5-year full-time position with the possibility of extension.
