Francisco Fernández Rivera

I am full professor of Computer Architecture at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). I attained my BS degree in 1986, and my PhD in 1990 at the same university. Throughout my career I have supervised researches and published extensively in the areas of computer-based applications, parallel processing and computer architecture. In particular, more than 60 papers were published in international journals, and more than 90 contributions in conferences and workshops were presented. I have conducted eight international and national projects, participated as researcher in other 22 and been the advisor of seven PhD thesis.

My current research interests include compilation of irregular codes for parallel and distributed systems, and its applications; the analysis and prediction of performance on parallel systems and the design of parallel algorithms of sparse matrix algebra and image processing; grid computing, memory hierarchy optimizations, GIS... I was also involved in many initiatives related to teaching innovation.
