Alberto José Bugarín Diz

I am a Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence and coordinator of the Intelligent Systems Group (GSI)‚ founded in 1990 and recognized as a competitive reference group by the Xunta de Galicia since 2006.

My research areas are focused on different areas of artificial intelligence and its applications‚ such as natural language generation (Data-To-Text systems)‚ soft computing‚ automatic learning and approximate knowledge and reasoning representation.

I am co-author of almost 200 scientific papers on these subjects. Furthermore, I have participated in more than 40 R&D projects and contracts for innovation and transfer‚ and I have been a principal researcher in 18 of them. I have also participated in scientific dissemination projects, and I am a member of several research thematic networks.

I have been Deputy Director of the School of Engineering of the University of Santiago de Compostela (ETSE). I am currently a Board Member of the Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial (AEPIA), literally in English “Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence”, and member of the Organizing Committee of the "24th European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI)‚" which took place in Santiago de Compostela and on-line on 29 August to 8 September 2020.
