Prestigious Women Researchers Lecture Series | Sara Pellegrini: 'From circuits to sensors: the best is yet to come'

In my talk I will cover all aspects related to how an electronics engineer can contribute to the development of sensor for our future. I will describe all aspects of pixel and sensors architecture in relation to electronics skills from device physics to analogue electronics design, from digital electronics to signal analysis.

Students will be able to see, hear and imagine how they will be able to contribute to our sensors future."

About Sara

Sara Pellegrini is Imaging Communication Manager and Academic Collaborations & PhD Portfolio Manager in the Imaging subgroup within ST’s Analog, MEMS and Sensors Group at STMicroelectronics and has held this position since July 2023.

Pellegrini joined ST as Characterization and Modelling Engineer in 2006 and has progressed to the role of Technology Manager and later to Advanced Photonics Pixel Architect. In this role, she led the advanced photonics sensor technology development, working in close collaboration with the silicon, process, module, and system R&D teams to define and develop ST’s imaging photonics pixel roadmap and specification. In her current role as the imaging communication manager, Pellegrini defines the communication strategy for the Imaging subgroup to ensure the delivery of a coherent message on ST's Imaging vision and goals. Moreover, as the academic collaborations and PhD portfolio manager, she coordinates all academic collaborations within the subgroup and the full PhD portfolio, ensuring alignment with ST’s vision and strategy with a focus on imaging related topics.

Pellegrini holds several patents and authored and presented papers on SPAD (Single-Photon Avalanche Diode) and SPAD-based systems and applications. Sara Pellegrini graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 1999 and received her PhD in Physics from Heriot-Watt University in 2006.
